1993 PORSCHE 911 RS AMERICA
From 1993-1994, Porsche produced 701 RS America units. This production was in response to the U.S.'s desire for a lighterweight, faster, and more "visceral" Carrera 2. Even more rare, over the entire run and only in 1993, Porsche produced 6 special order paint RS's: 4 in Fly Yellow, one in Maritime Blue, and one in Aquamarine. This is one of the 4 RS America’s ever produced in Fly Yellow.
It is 100% original with only the addition of an absolutely correct, date-stamped Porsche CR-1 radio. From the factory, this car was produced with three of the four offered options including: Limited slip, A/C, and sunroof.
RS Americas differed from standard C2s in many ways. These included: non-power steering with a different rack ratio, RS-only cloth seats, rear seat delete with RS-only package tray (in 1993 ONLY), lightweight carpet in the passenger area and front boot, manual side mirrors, A/C delete (could be optioned back in), sunroof delete (could be optioned back in), RS-only door panels, and a very distinctive RS-only rear tail.
Documented since new, RS #122 comes complete with: the original window sticker, ALL books/records since new, both sets of keys, all tools/jack, Porsche COA, the RS America manual supplement, RS America brochure, and the Porsche 1993 technical book.
The RS America driving experience should not be confused with a standard C2s. It achieved exactly what the engineers wanted - a more visceral car. The handling is sharper, the lack of sound deadening makes everything more "real", and the seating is absolutely wonderful! Combine that with the non-powered steering feel and 0-60 times of 5.1 seconds and you have a true RS, made just for U.S. customers!
RS America pricing has skyrocketed over the past several years with stock RS’s becoming very, very rare indeed. Combine that with this 1993’s being one of only 4 ever produced, and this car can only be imagined in anyone’s collection.
